D-Glucosamine Hydrochloride

D-glucosamine hydrochloride is obtained from the shells of sea crustaceans. It is naturally contained in any healthy cartilage. Glucosamine encourages the cartilage to create the fundamental building material of the cartilage ?proteoglycans and collagen. Proteoglycans with their spatial structure resemble bottle-cleaning brushes. The space between the bristles of this imagined bottle-cleaning brush is filled with collagen. While collagen and elastin are flexible substances, proteoglycans provide the cartilage with strength. In a healthy joint, the combination of proteoglycans and collagen is such that the cartilage is both strong and flexible enough. Glucosamine also has anti-inflammatory effects and prevents the creation of enzymes which can damage the cartilage. With age, however, the ability of the organism to produce the necessary amount of glucosamine is reduced and it is therefore advisable to supplement it in the form of food supplements. The main action of glucosamine in the human body, is to stimulate the synthesis of cartilage in joints. Also, by inhibiting the degradation of cartilage the effect can be relief from the pain and inflammation around joints that is associated with osteoarthritis. D-Glucosamine HCL is a small molecule comprised of a sugar molecule (glucose), an amino group and a hydrochloride group. D-Glucosamine HCL contains 98% glucosamine, whereas Glucosamine Sulfate contains 75% glucosamine. D-Glucosamine HCL and Glucosamine Sulfate behave similarly in the gastrointestinal environment to liberate the active glucosamine compound for absorption without causing gastric upset. A reduced consumption of red meat, refined sugar, alcohol and caffeine, lowering cholesterol levels and maintaining a light exercise program will also be beneficial while on this treatment. This product is especially good for those with high blood pressure, on salt or potassium restricted diets or those having adverse reactions to sulfate.
